Tai Chi for Corporate
The trauma experienced by many individuals can often lead to a very unhealthy workplace. An unhealthy workplace with best strategy is less likely to be successful.
Qigong and Taiji are ancient systems of mindful exercise that can be practiced by employees and leaders, no matter the state of their current health or level of fitness. It is designed to create a freedom of movement in the body that leaves one feeling relaxed, energised, focused, productive and creative.
What does one actually do?
Qigong literally translates as internal energy cultivation, and consists of a series of very gentle repetitive movements combined with rhythmic breathing, executed in simple standing positions. Once these foundational movements are learned, one progresses to Taiji which consists of ‘forms” or very specific sequences of slow movement. Great attention is paid to moving the body from it’s core whilst keeping the muscles relaxed and the body structurally aligned at every point. Whilst Taiji is in essence, a very effective martial art, with each graceful movement either an offence or defence, our focus will be on the health and meditative benefits of this proven art form. Indeed it is a moving meditation.
It achieves this by working with the body at three core levels:
1. Externally, the movements stretch the muscles, ligaments, tendons and connective tissue,
while activating all the joints and aligning the postural structure of the body.
2. The movements target all the vital organs of the body, allowing for them to be massaged and properly positioned, so that they may function efficiently. This in turn optimises the functioning of the major systems in the body, including the circulatory, nervous, digestive, endocrine, immune and lymphatic systems.
3. Most importantly it focuses on the cultivation and movement of Qi within the body. Qi, vital energy, or life force is understood scientifically as bio-electric energy. It is the flow of this energy
in the body that deeply nourishes, heals and enhances the body and mind, bringing it into a state of balance and optimum health.
